Zafar Kalanauri has contributed to key legal reforms, including drafting a new Section 89A and a comprehensive Mediation Law. He is a member of the ADR/Mediation Legislative Committee and the ADR Working Group for IFC & Sindh High Court’s pilot project. He drafted Model Rules of Business for Musalihat Anjuman under GJTMAP (Govt. of Pakistan & UNDP). He also serves on the Steering Committee for the National Law University (HEC) and the Supreme Court’s Legal Education Commission.
International Exposure:
Zafar Kalanauri visited the USA four times on ISDLS’ invitation to study ADR mechanisms for faster dispute resolution. Since 1997, he has led the Civil Justice Reform Project with ISDLS & USIS, running pilot projects for speedy disposal of family and commercial cases through case management and mediation. He has represented Pakistan in legal seminars and conferences across the USA, UK, France, China, Bangladesh, and Singapore.
Mediation:
Zafar Kalanauri, an Accredited Mediator from the USA and CEDR (UK), has resolved numerous disputes through mediation. He is a Mediation Master Trainer (CEDR & IFC) and serves as Executive Director of Pakistan Alternate Dispute Resolution, the country’s only private ADR forum. He is a panel mediator at LCCI’s Dispute Resolution Centre and currently an ADR Expert for the Asian Development Bank’s judicial reform project. He also drafted the Mediation & Conciliation Rules under Section 89-A CPC for court-annexed ADR in Pakistan.
